It was great to read all of your ideas for the next Mattel “I Love Lucy” doll!  I’ll let you in on a secret:  even though they won’t be available until fall, I’ve now seen—in person—a real 2007 doll – Lucy as The Professor in Episode #6, “The Audition”!  I have to tell you, she’s pretty fabulous, and we’re especially excited since we have the original professor costume and cello on exhibit in the Desilu Playhouse in Jamestown.  But that’s for another time – now I want to get your feedback on something more immediate.

We’re just days away from Lucy’s Birthday Celebration in her hometown, and it’s sure going to be a good time!

With us will be two of Lucy’s dearest friends (and former employees), Wanda Clark, herpersonal secretary for more than 25 years, and Frank Gorey, who was her driver – and keeper of her house – for 30 years.  Saturday night’s headliner will be Jerry Maren, an original munchkin from The Wizard of Oz, who guest starred in a 1970 episode of Here’s Lucy.  Ret Turner, Lucy’s favorite costume designer, will host Sunday’s Lucille Ball Fashion Show.  And then there are three guests who actually appeared in “I Love Lucy”:  Joe and Michael Mayer, the toddler Little Ricky, and Shirley Mitchell, the cackling Marion Strong.  (“Oh, Marion…!”)

These special visitors will be sharing stories about our favorite redhead both at their own events and when they are mystery guests on different Lucytown Tours—a two-hour guided tour of Lucy’s hometown—throughout the weekend.

It’s great to be able to meet and hear from folks who were actually “there.”

So, tell me:  Have you ever met anyone who knew Lucille Ball personally?  Did you get to talk with them?  Perhaps you met her yourself?  Let me hear from you!

The I love Lucy show first aired in samoa in 1967 is what I was told as a child growing up..well I was named after her from my grandmother who knew no english but watched the show and laughed histerically at every silly thing she did on her I love Lucy show..Lucy did not have to say a thing all her actions were universal for everyone to love and laugh and enjoy..she is always in my heart and so are her kids and Desi arnaz her husband to me he will always be her husband and thats that..I love his life history and i wish i can learn more but with lil money and 4 boys its only gaxing online on what i can hope and wish to get from their collection..i have no daughters and I wish I did because her ame would of been Lucy Desiree Ball..I love the arnaz's history and cherish every moment i get to watch the reruns on t.v land when ever we go to families house they know i come over to watch it because we dont have cable and can not afford it,,,i make do with what i got and i love lucy's encouraging words...I am trying to live life by eating slow and taking it one day at a time..Lucille Ball Arnaz I really love you my tears are of loving what you stood for on this earth and i wish we could live forever the shows and plays are not what they use to be...love me Lucy too

Hi everyone, I am so glad my friend told me about this website! I cannot wait to go to next years festival!! Anyway, wouldn't it be cool to have a doll of Lucy when she was dressed like Groucho when she was imitating him behind the door and they kept peeking at each other when she was mirroring him. I loved that episode. Marsha P>S> If anyone is planning to go to next years festival I'd love to hear from you. My e-mail is Marsha251@aol.com

I am so jealous of my dad. My dad used to work as a pharmacist in Los Angeles/Beverly Hills many years ago, now he does that in Las Vegas. But, he used to tell me stories of when she came into the store where he was working at to get her prescriptions filled. Like, when she stood in line, she would peek over at the person in front and say "that is wonderful, I took that..." and be very friendly and funny. My dad never asked for an autograph (for which I could kick him lol just kidding, but as he says she is just a person and deserves respect and privacy which I can respect)
Thats my Lucy story :)

I used to live in L.A. from the late 70s to the early 80s. Every August I would stop by Lucy's home and drop off a birthday gift. A small plotted plant. During these visits I have met everyone in Lucy's life, Gary Mortin, Lucie and Desi Jr, Lucy's Mom. Everyone but Lucy. :( I met Desi when he autographed my copy of "A Book", he was the nicest man and just liked to talk. I miss them both and am sorry I never got a chance to meet Lucy.
